This year was a SUCCESS compared with last year's attempts at getting Jack to sit on Santa's lap. He had several opportunities to meet the big guy throughout the season, including the neighborhood hayride that Santa always comes and visits and Mommy's work party. He still started out pretty timid, but he warmed up quickly and was determined to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas.
We told him he could ask Santa for three things, and he had his mind made up from December 1st: He wanted "a big truck with a trailer, Spider Man stuff, and a Pink Baby" ... in that order. It never changed. Always the same. He was determined that he would get those three things. Perhaps I should explain the "pink baby" request. When Henry was born, Grandma and Grandpa D gave him a blue GloWorm. Before Christmas, Jack saw the GloWorm in a catalog--in pink. I don't think the pink color ever even registered with him. I think his thinking for wanting the pink one was that it was different than Henry's. So--it was the pink one he HAD to have. To each their own!
Henry, however, was NOT so happy about meeting Santa. He is pertty much at his peak of stranger anxiety and it showed. He was okay as long as Mom or Dad was sitting right there with him--with a hand on him. Otherwise, he got pretty vocal. But I guess that's just to be expected at 18 months!
