"Bounce"

We have three dogs. Three Boston Terriers. It's a Knopke-Gisler-Deever tradition. Just is...My grandpa had one, my mom had one, I had one, and now my kids have one...okay, three. Such is the progression of things... So with this tradition comes the name Bounce. Don't know why...just is. So, when we named our first Boston Buster, we really went against the grain. But, he just didn't look like a Bounce...he looked like a Buster. Then came along Boston #2. Again, the same problem: she didn't look like a Bounce...she looked like a Betty. And so she was dubbed Betty Boop. So of course we had to have a third...just so we could call it Bounce. And it worked. She was a runt, a measly little pup with saucer eyes and the dog was BALL CRAZY...just like my Bounce had been. It was destiny....

So fast forward about 8 years and now we have Henry, child #2. Now, Jack always loved to play with bouncy balls but Henry LOVES to play with them. And so does Bounce. You'd think this would be a match made in Heaven, but Bounce will go absolutely ape-crazy trying to get that ball. She'll WAIL in a way you've never heard a dog cry. She'll knock Henry clean over to get the ball. Then, she'll pop it. Fun over... ball dead... baby crying... dog looking at you like she has no clue what happened. That scenario is not fun. So, for the most part, if the boys are going to play with a ball, the dog gets kenneled up. Plain and simple. Not sure what we'll do when the boys are heavy into playing sports in the back yard. Guess Bounce will just never get to go outside. Poor dog..... sorry, my babies win!
