It's funny: you think you have it all figured out once you survive newborn-hood with baby number one. Jack had his little tricks: he loved white noise and slept like a baby so long as his white noise machine was set to "crickets." He loved his swing, but only if it was set to swing from side to side, not back and forth, again, playing his cricket noise. Jack slept through the night easily if he was swaddled with his Swaddle-Me blanket. Going in to this new adventure with Hank, I figured "I got this in the bag; I know what I'm doing." But, not so fast--Henry has his own ideas about what works! Henry seems to think the crickets are okay, but doesn't seem to think they are as necessary as Jack did, however if he's in his bouncy seat, you better believe he wants the vibration option in full gear (problem: our seat only vibrates for about 2 minutes at a time, meaning every 2 minutes, you have to go back and reset it if you want to keep him happy!) I couldn't for the life of me figure out why Hank didn't like the swing that Jack was so fond of. It hadn't even occurred to me that perhaps he'd like to swing back and forth instead of side to side (admittedly, I forgot the thing even went back and forth like a traditional swing, since we never used it that way with Jack!) However, this week I figured that out and now our boy quite enjoys swinging! I can see this is a learning curve...I got to cocky. Truth is, we'll NEVER have it figured out!!
